Two-time Dakar Rally champion Toby Price recently sat down with Brad, Matt and Keith on the NIOA Unloaded Podcast, where he shared his extraordinary journey, highlighting both his triumphs and personal tragedies. From his early days on a family property in Australia to his successes on the global stage, Price’s story is a testament to his talent, unwavering determination and resilience.

Early Life and Introduction to Racing

Toby Price was raised on a 43,000-acre property known as Clonkeen Station. It was here, amidst the sprawling landscapes, that he first discovered his love for motorcycles.

“The only thing we could kind of do out there was ride horses or ride motorcycles. And I definitely wasn’t a horse person,” he recalls.

His father, a significant influence in his early years, introduced him to motorcycling at a very young age. By the age of four, Price was already participating in his first racing events, showing an innate talent that would soon capture the attention of the motocross community. His early races at the Condobolin Auto Sports Club were marked by impressive performances, including lapping the field in his debut race. These early victories were precursors to a career that would see him rise through the ranks of Australian and international motorsport.

His most notable achievements include his triumphs at the Dakar Rally, one of the most gruelling and prestigious off-road races in the world. In 2016, Toby realised this potential, winning his first Dakar Rally title and becoming the first Australian to do so.
